Classic black dresser

I've been saving this mirror because it needs a tall dresser.  With the shorter dressers you'd have to duck to see in the mirror.  This one was perfect!

A refinish gone wrong!!! (And then right)

Not that I don't have plenty of mess ups, but this one came to me in this condition.  Someone decided these sunflowers would make beautiful pulls and also decided to brush on white paint in a VERY messy & drippy fashion.  Then end result was, well, a mess!!!

A little lesson I've learned is that I don't have to completely strip the gobby paint on a piece of furnture.  It takes HOURS and I HATE using stripper.  So, I sanded down all the blobs, and used my Krylon spray primer.  It makes it look so smooth and you would never know there are a few layers of paint underneath. 

Here is the end result!

Painted in my favorite red with a black glaze to show off all the details and curves on this dresser!

Didn't it turn out pretty?  And I refinished it in a day thanks to some amazing primer!

Custom order barstools

I love that something outdated but still functional can be transformed for very little time & money!  Take these barstools...  (Sorry, the pic was taken after I started priming)

 With a few hours of work they became this! AND they match this cute lady's new kitchen table & chairs!

 They are very lightly glazed with brown.  By taking a brush and lightly running it along the edges it gives the furniture the sanded edge look.

Sure hope the owner is happy with her "new" barstools!

"Pretty in Pink" Bedroom set

Sometimes my plans for furniture change a lot once I get them home.  This set was going to be black.  Now, I can't even picture it.  But, I'm so glad the girly theme came to me.  Since my girls are too old for cutsie stuff, I get to live vicariously through my furniture.  :)

 The four posts on the bed were missing the finials & I didn't really want to buy new ones.  I decided to cut flowers out of some 2" pine I had.  I just traced them on the wood, and used my scroll saw.  Then I used dowel sticks to attach them.  I'm so happy with the final look!

After primer, came the pink, then a white wash over the top.  I lightly sanded the edges and used a coat of glossy polyerathane on top!

 Here's the before.  Wow. Ugly, huh?

The most amazing thing happened today!

Today while shopping at DI (local thrift store) this pot caught my eye.

It reminded me of the beautiful pots my brother made while he was in high school.  He passed away 15 years ago & I'm lucky enough to have some of his pots in my home...like this one.

So, imagine my suprise when I turned over the pot and saw my brothers signature on the bottom!  In the thrift store!  How it ended up there, I have no idea!  I would love to know the story behind this little pot.  But, what are the odds that a pot my brother made in 1986 would end up in the store in my town (where he didn't live) and that I would happen to visit the store and find it?  WOW!  So I paid $1.50 for this priceless treasure!
